River Ryton Viaduct

ABM Precast Solutions supplied bespoke precast concrete beams for the River Ryton Viaduct, a key structure on the new access road to the Worksop Sludge Treatment Facility in Nottinghamshire. Working with JN Bentley and Mott MacDonald for Severn Trent Water, ABM delivered 24 Y2 and YE2 profile bridge beams and eight cast-on stringcourses, all tailored to meet strict environmental and flood resilience standards.

The viaduct was engineered for rapid installation, with offsite-manufactured beams allowing quick assembly and minimal site disruption. Hollow parapets were included to enable safe overtopping during major flood events, ensuring the structure meets Environment Agency requirements. This approach supported project delivery on a tight schedule, reduced local impact, and provided long-term durability for the region’s wastewater infrastructure.
